Partnership for Young London & Children England survey

Partnership for Young London and Children England are exploring the impact austerity and policy change is having on voluntary sector organisations working with children and families. As a part of this, they have developed a quick survey for voluntary organisations - could you forward this survey to voluntary organisations in your borough and ask them to complete it? Any information they provide will be confidential.
The survey is available at:https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/MV6C2CD
It asks questions on the following:
·         the levels of need and risk presented by service users
·         the levels of available support and training on safeguarding
·         and any trends and changes that VCSE orgs are experiencing in the multi-agency context (e.g. changing thresholds, higher risk/complexity referrals).
Focus groups and case studies will also be carried out and the findings from these and the survey will contribute to a report to be published by the end of the year. ‘Beneath The Threshold’ builds on the work undertaken by Children England’s Perfect Storms’, and also Partnership for Young London’s‘25%, Reviewing commissioning of youth services across London.’

Makaton Training - only a few spaces remaining for 28th September

Following the success of our initial Makaton training session, I am pleased to announce that we will be offering further sessions in September this year.

The training will teach you basic signs and symbols together with a couple of songs.  There are lots of activities used during the session to reinforce learning of the signs.

Wednesday 28th September

From 6.30 to 9.30pm

Community Room, Orpington Fire Station

Avalon Road, Orpington

£20 per person (members) payable in advance

If you would like to book a place please email me at cfforum@btconnect.com to request a place.  If a space is available I will send you details for payment.  If there are insufficient numbers to run a session, your payment will be returned in full.  If however, you fail to attend then we are unable to refund the £20.

And finally, here are some of the comments from the previous session ....

This training will help me because I will be able to use Makaton to communicate with vulnerable young people with the youth centre that I work in.

I work with children all ages with different levels of need, I feel in
the dark when they are trying to communicate with me using Makaton and
had to rely on members of staff with training. It will also help with
children I see who are pre verbal and children with communication

It gave me a real sense of perspective of the young people I work with and how they learn and communicate; having key phrases will be very useful in my role and will definitely help me in communicating with the young people who often or only communicate with workers this way.
